Work Update

its been quite a while since i have posted any relevant work material so here we are, I'll begin with the D+AD brief. I must admit to being rather unfamiliar with this educational competition scheme (if that's what it is?) and to be perfectly honest i feel slightly underwhelmed by the complete briefs on offer, there are only three ideas suited to video/film making skills so i don't have too much to debate about on selecting an idea.

the first brief was a music video for the Damon albarn/Jamie Hewlett music opera collaboration of Monkey. this is a pretty bad brief in my view because the creative duo behind the animated band Gorillaz have such a unique animation style that trying to replicate or better is a pretty grim task. (On an interesting side note Jamie Hewlett was a student at my previous college Northbrook)

this leaves either the eBay viral or the science museum black hole animation, the viral was the front runner in my idea selection but upon further scrutiny of the brief i have decided against it, what turned me off was the companies decision to move away from the fun aspect that is unique to eBay and focus on serious shopping opportunities which raises problems when creating a viral because from previous experience they are more suited to a fun and comedic tone.

i have been anxious to make an animation for a while so with the science museum brief i see a great opportunity to make a visually engaging and entertaining project that appeals to the key demographic.

I will update again this week detailing my idea plan for the brief
